Barker Ranch Horn Rapids Canal Piping Project

The Project

The project increased the Barker Ranch's water delivery system efficiency by converting an open canal into a piped system. The increased efficiency allowed Barker Ranch to divert less water from the Yakima River, adding an additional 6,436 acre/feet of water to summer streamflows.

Opportunities

More water will be left in the river to benefit fish during the summer when water demand is highest.

Expected Outcomes

Over 6,400 ac-ft of water is now available for streamflows
