Conservation Commission Retiming Project

The Project

OCR awarded a $1 million grant to the Washington State Conservation Commission to construct three water retiming pilot projects. The pilots will determine whether return flows from conservation projects can be retimed  to reach the Columbia River in late summer when streamflows are at their lowest.

Opportunities

If the pilot projects show that return flows can be retimed to reach the River in late summer, the conserved water from these pilot projects could be used to replace water withdrawn for new out-of-stream uses.
