About ToxicFreeTipsEveryone in our country has a right to know about hazardous
substances in their home, school, work place, and community. In 1985, the Washington Department of Ecology (Ecology) created the Hazardous Substance Information & Education Office (HSIEO) as a public information clearinghouse about hazardous substances. Since 1987, Ecology has used the office to share information with the public about hazardous substances used and stored at businesses, which is reported to Ecology under the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act.
ToxicFreeTips staff is dedicated to providing accurate and credible information to the public, and to our partners in environmental and human health. We rely on toxicologists, chemists, and other experts to advise us. Our messages and services are research-based, using a community-based marketing approach to engage Washington’s residents in sustainable behaviors. For more information, please contact us. Toll-free: (866) 939-9991 Monday - Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Or leave a message 24 hours/day The Washington Department of Ecology funds this website with State Toxics Control Account funds and Worker-Right-to-Know fees. |
