Organization

The Washington State Department of Ecology operates out of five main offices and several field offices, providing services within the counties listed for each jurisdiction:

Ecology's headquarters offices are located at 300 Desmond Dr. SE, Lacey, WA 98503, USA. The mailing address is P.O. Box 47600, Olympia WA 98504-7600.

Ecology carries out its mission and goals through the work of our ten environmental programs:

Environmental Assessment Toxics Cleanup
Hazardous Waste and Toxics Reduction Water Quality
Nuclear Waste Water Resources
Shorelands and Environmental Assistance Waste 2 Resources

Ecology’s administrative programs play a vital role in all environmental program work throughout the agency.

Ecology has jurisdiction within Washington State but occasionally provides services out-of-state related to surface water incidents or natural disasters. In many cases, Ecology works collaboratively with international agencies, tribal governments, and local governments as well as other state governments.

EPA has jurisdiction over environmental issues that are cross-border internationally.
