Progress

On January 10, 2005, the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved The Quilcene-Snow Water Resource Inventory Area (WRIA 17) Watershed Management Plan, as adopted by the Planning Unit in October, 2003. The plan contains recommendations for addressing Water Quantity, Water Quality, and Habitat issues.

The Planning Unit completed its Detailed Implementation Plan in October 2007. This plan prioritizes their recommendations and provides the details of who should do what in terms of putting the watershed plan into action.

Specific projects are being considered for funding from an existing state grant, and work is continuing with the US Geological Survey in developing a detailed groundwater model for the Chimacum basin
