Progress

The first meetings of Initiating Governments were held in the summer of 2002, with the first Planning Unit meeting in November 2002. A diverse group of was gathered, representing many water interests. Major issues for the watershed include instream flows in the Palouse River and tributaries, water quality concerns and TMDLs, water for development along the Moscow-Pullman corridor, and coordination with Idaho.

Phase 2 started of fall of 2003. A Phase II Level I Assessment for the Palouse Basin was completed March of 2005. More detailed assessments are being completed for water quality, storage and instream flow that will facilitate planning unit understanding of the basin. The supplemental assessments are scheduled to be completed by December 2005. Phase III work started in June 2005 concurrently with Phase II work in order to make efficient use of planning unit member time and resources A draft watershed plan is scheduled to be completed by June 2007.
