Site details

project Ecology's stream biological monitoring effort encompasses multiple projects including Ambient, EMAP, and REMAP. Currently, only the Ambient sites have on-line site summaries and visit report.
latitude Angular distance on the earth's surface, measured north of the equator in decimal degrees. (Datum: NAD 27)
longitude Angular distance on the earth's surface, measured west from the prime meridian at Greenwich, England in decimal degrees. (Datum: NAD 27)
elevation Vertical height in feet from a geoid representing mean sea level
stream order A hierarchical classification defined by Strahler (1952, 1964); Headwater streams are first order. Stream order increases as tributaries coalesce.
ecoregion Ecoregions are geographical areas with similar land-surface form, potential natural vegetation, land use, and soil classifications. See Major ecoregions of Washington state.
county Counties are governmental subdivisions to Washington state.
land use Dominant land-use surrounding or upstream to the monitoring site.
reference site Stream reaches that are either in a minimally or least disturbed condition for the region.

Years when sampling has occurred

For the ambient project, monitoring visits to a site occur only once in any year. This table shows which years the site had a monitoring visit.

Site comment

The site comment may include notes on why a site was selected and special site conditions that may affect bioassessment. Notes may be numbered for clarity.

WRIA map

Water Resource Inventory Area. Washington has been divided into 62 major watersheds and sub-watersheds. These divisions are often used at the state level to organize watershed-monitoring and -management activities.
