Research and supporting information


Several research, or issue papers were written during the development of the beyond waste plan. Some were written by a consultant team and others by Ecology staff and interested parties.

Draft Beyond Waste plan issuance and review


Ecology issued a public review draft of the beyond waste plan in May 2004. Comments were accepted through August 13th, 2004. Ecology then revised the plan and issued the final version in November 2004.

  • Notice announcing the release of the Draft Beyond Waste Summary of the State Solid and Hazardous Waste Plans. Ecology announced the release of the Draft Beyond Waste Summary of the State Solid and Hazardous Waste Plans. Ecology took comments through August 13, 2004 and hoped interested parties would take advantage of one of the opportunities to share thoughts and ideas with us about the Beyond Waste Project.
  • Summary of 7 Public Meetings. Held to get feedback on Draft Beyond Waste Plan. (May-June 2004.)
  • Beyond Waste Focus Sheet - a general information sheet that explains the Beyond Waste project and provides public comment period information (2 pages).
  • SEPA Checklist and Determination of Non-Significance
    Ecology has filed a State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) Checklist and issued a Determination of Non-Significance, or DNS on the Beyond Waste project. 2001 to 2004 - Public Outreach Efforts

Read summary of 13 hazardous waste focus groups held in 2003 with generators and handlers of hazardous waste.

Read results of Industrial Waste Generator survey from 2003. Ecology surveyed hazardous waste generators to gather input for the Beyond Waste plan.

Read report on 16 round table meetings held in 2001 to gather input for the state solid waste plan.
