Abstract Long Description

The purpose of this document is to identify sources of mercury, outline the existing regulatory structure around mercury and existing mercury reduction efforts, and identify possible strategies for further mercury reduction. This information will serve as the basis for the Washington State Mercury Chemical Action Plan, which will prioritize mercury sources for reduction, evaluate reduction strategies, and identify areas for further research.

Potential reduction strategies have not yet been evaluated by the Washington State Department of Ecology or the Washington State Department of Health. This is a working document; not all of the information contained has been confirmed. The Departments expect that it will be modified over the coming months as a result of further research by Department staff, comments from the Mercury Advisory Committee, and comments received during the public comment period.
