| Abstract | Long Description |
Moving Toward Beyond Waste in the Industrial Sector: This paper outlines some of the successes and challenges faced by the industrial sector in moving toward Beyond Waste. A combination of voluntary initiatives, performance-based environmental programs, and price signals are proposed as tools for reducing hazardous wastes. Using these tools, Ecology should work with select industry sectors to develop industry-specific strategies to reduce or eliminate wastes. Industries that have made advances employing beyond waste behaviors and outcome based performance are showcased along with some of the factors that appear to be influencing their movement toward the beyond waste vision. |
