Short Description

This quality assurance plan describes a monitoring program that will (1) provide a consistent, objective picture of the health of stream and river corridor habitat, and (2) detect trends.

The plan also will help policymakers in Washington State prioritize the environmental features and limiting factors that are in most need of being addressed for the protection of watershed health and salmon recovery.

The Washington Salmon Recovery Funding Board funded the development of this quality assurance monitoring plan, in response to recommendations from the Governor′s Forum on Monitoring.

Abstract Long Description

This document describes a quality assurance monitoring plan for conducting a statewide, probability-based sampling program. The goal of the monitoring is to provide quantitative, statistically valid, and consistent estimates of the status and trends in the physical, chemical, and biological conditions of Washington′s rivers and streams. The data collected under this plan can be used to report on the health of salmonid habitat.
