This report represents a summary of compliance with water quality laws for calendar year 2005. The Washington State Department of Ecology′s (Ecology) Water Quality Program regulates public and private activities discharging to waters of the state that contribute to or cause pollution. The report provides an overview of the Water Quality Program. It discusses point source and nonpoint source pollution. It also explains both permit-related activities of the program and activities where compliance is sought through non-permitting means such as technical assistance, inspections, education, and enforcement. | |
