| Abstract | Long Description |
Each study conducted by the Washington State Department of Ecology (Ecology) must have an approved Quality Assurance (QA) Project Plan. The plan describes the objectives of the study and the procedures to be followed to achieve those objectives. After completion of the study, a final report describing the study results will be posted to the Internet. This is a QA Project Plan for characterizing PCB and dioxin levels in fish from background lakes and rivers in Washington. Ecology will collect fish from 24 lakes and rivers in four regions statewide during the summer and fall of 2008. A total of 48 composite fillet samples will be analyzed for polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and polychlorinated dioxins and furans (PCDDs/PCDFs) using low-level methods. Ecology will use the results in conjunction with existing data to recommend approaches for addressing 303(d) listings for these compounds. |
