Short Description

High levels of Enterococcus spp. bacteria in marine (salt) waters can be indicative of an increased risk of illness for recreational beach users. The BEACH Program is currently being implemented in Washington State to protect users of marine waters. This poster presentation provides an in-depth look at fecal bacteria levels and beach closures from 2004-2008.

The poster was presented at the 2009 Puget Sound Georgia Basin Ecosystem Conference in Seattle, February 8-11, 2009.
