| Short Description |
Concentrations of 13 PBDE congeners were measured in sediments from 210 monitoring stations in Puget Sound from 2004 through 2008. Three congeners, BDE-47, -99, and -209, were detected in sediments from 7 surveys, and were measured in the highest percentages (70%, 38%, 26%, respectively) of 210 stations sampled. They were in highest concentrations in and near urban embayments, and were higher than levels measured in some European and Asian sediments. Congeners BDE-184 and -191 were found only in Boundary Bay, in the path of the Fraser River sediment plume. Other BDE congener levels were low (<1 ppb) or undetected. | |
