| Short Description |
A Puget Sound Assessment and Monitoring Program sediment quality survey was conducted in the bays and inlets of the San Juan Islands, eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca, and Admiralty Inlet to estimate the incidence and spatial extent of degraded sediment conditions. Concentrations of toxic chemicals, response in four laboratory toxicity tests, and composition of the resident infauna were determined at 90 stations in the 212 km2 study area. Ecology′s Sediment Quality Triad Index was also used as a high-level indicator to characterize the quality of sediments at each station, and to calculate the spatial extent of sediment quality degradation for each region. | |
