Short Description

In 2007, the legislature raised the upper limit for natural resource damages from $50 to $100 per gallon of oil spilled into the waters of the state. Current mathematical formulas in regulation are unable to calculate damages above $50 per gallon. Ecology is amending the formulas so that the full $1 to $100 range of the compensation required in state law can be calculated.
