Short Description

The State of Washington currently is experiencing the second consecutive year of severe drought conditions and there is no indication the situation will improve in the immediate future. The entire state is experiencing below-normal precipitation, snowpack, soil moisture, and stream flows. Weather conditions in February continued the trend with statewide precipitation averaging only 47 percent of normal. According to National Weather Service records, the wetlest months in Washington are December, January, November, and February. When precipitation is significantly below normal during these months, there is little likelihood of overcoming the water deficit.
