Short Description

As part of the 1989 Basic Water Monitoring Program, fish tissue or sediment samples were collected at nine river locations in Washington State. The level of chemical contamination found at these locations was typically low, in most cases at or near the detection limit. The only notable exceptions were DDT compounds (DDT and metabolites) found in the Walla Walla River sample, when expressed on a lipid weighted basis, was in the range of concentrations reported in whole fish samples from the lower Yakima River. The Walla Walla River should be considered for further investigations.
