| Short Description |
The first year of sampling for the Black River study was conducted weekly between December 1991 and March 1992. The goal of the study is to establish a wet season total maximum daily load (TMDL) and nonpoint load allocation (LA) strategy for fecal coliform bacteria in the Black River basin. | Abstract | Long Description |
The first year of sampling for the Black River study was conducted weekly between December 1991 and March 1992. The goal of the study is to establish a wet season total maximum daily load (TMDL) and nonpoint load allocation (LA) strategy for fecal coliform bacteria in the Black River basin. Fecal coliform results from the first year of sampling followed the general trend of rainfall, however precipitation was well behind normal for the survey period. Few exceedances of state water quality standards were found, and results were lower than other recent surveys have reported. Recommendations include modification of second season sampling design for improved definition of fecal coliform wash-off from the basin, and application of a GIS model using land-use and fecal coliform runoff/loading functions to predict problem areas in the drainage. |
