| Short Description |
An abbreviated water quality study was performed in the Johnson Creek watershed, Whatcom County, during February and March 1992, as an addendum to the Dakota, Bertrand, and Fishtrap Creek monitoring project. Water quality did not fully meet Class A water quality standards for fecal coliform bacteria or dissolved oxygen. Impacts from dairy wastes are the likely source of the problems; however, effects from other livestock farms and failing septic systems are other possible sources. These findings confirm results of a 1989 Ecology study which reported the persistence of water quality problems in the drainage. Continued efforts to identify sources of pollutants are warranted. | |||
