Abstract Long Description

A Class II Inspection was conducted at the town of Naches Wastewater Treatment Plant on July 26-28, 1993. The plant was performing well during the inspection. The effluent met all permit limits.

Substantial nitrification and denitrification were occurring. Copper was the only effluent organic or metal concentration higher than acute state water quality standards or EPA water quality criteria. Low concentrations of pesticide compounds were detected in the sludge. Sludge metals concentrations were lower than EPA criteria for land application. Receiving water copper, lead, and dissolved oxygen concentrations were outside state water quality criteria for the Naches River. No toxicity was found in the rainbow trout survival test, the Daphnia magna survival test, or the fathead minnow survival and growth tests. A very low level of toxicity was exhibited in the Microtox test.
