Short Description

This publication explains the Department of Ecology's new policy designed to encourage better performance of wastewater treatment plant operations. Wastewater treatment facilities may become eligible for a reduction in compliance monitoring if they go at least two years without any violations of their permit limits. The policy is applicable to the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permits for surface water discharge and state permitted discharges to groundwater and to municiple wastewater treatment plants. It also explains how to qualify for reduced monitoring and the current situation of the reduced monitoring program.
