Purpose

The purpose of these rules is to establish standardized procedures for the measurement of sound levels of sources regulated by the department of ecology, including, but not limited to, environmental noise, motor racing vehicles, construction, float planes, railroads, and aircraft engine testing. Vessels, as defined in RCW 88.12.010 (21) and regulated for noise under chapter 88.12 RCW (Regulation of recreational vessels), shall be exempt from chapter 173-58 WAC.
