Community ResourcesClimate education and outreach programs with resources for communities around Washington State to help lower carbon footprints. Climate Masters – WSU volunteer-based program in King, Snohomish & Whatcom counties to help citizens, business leaders & local officials make informed decisions concerning carbon usage and key strategies to confront impacts of climate change. Climate Stewards – Volunteer training program in Skagit County to help community members reduce their carbon footprint. Also 2011 Regional Climate Change Volunteer Summit at Padilla Bay near Mt. Vernon. Climate Coaches – Classes train volunteers to help community members reduce carbon footprint. Also see Seattle Climate Action plan, Seattle Can and Iamcoolcampaign materials. Leavenworth Barn Beach Reserve – climate education and action. Includes citizen science of Witnessing Change photo-documentation of seasons and landscapes, forests, etc. Thurston Energy – helps Thurston County residents and businesses save money & energy, with energy-use evaluation services and recommendations for energy-saving measures in both homes and businesses. Thurston Climate Action Team – a public/private partnership encouraging, coordinating, and taking action on climate change. Climate Café and Eco-Teams – A 30-day program to lose 5,000 pounds Low Carbon Diet @ Home – Small teams support each other in lifestyle and household actions to reduce individual carbon footprints. Ideal for use in agencies, organizations, businesses, schools, or faith-based communities. Carbon Smart @ Work – Reduce office carbon footprint by providing tools and information for staff to take action at their desk, around the building, or when traveling for work. Honors existing actions and then pledges new actions. Carbon Footprint Pledge – a pledge to further shrink your carbon footprint at home, in travel and around your community. |
