Ag IRIS & Water Company Discharge Permit Applications

National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Wastewater Discharge Permit

May 1, 2024 - June 8, 2024, 11:59 p.m.

We invite your comments on two permit applications for Ag IRIS & Water Company in Quincy, Washington; State Reuse Permit ST0501357 and NPDES permit WA0991052.

Ag IRIS proposes an agricultural reuse irrigation system that will produce agricultural industrial reuse water from treated effluent discharged from the City of Quincy Industrial Water Treatment Facility. Reuse water will be delivered to an adjacent irrigation canal operated by Quincy Columbia Irrigation District (QCBID). Ag IRIS will produce and beneficially use agricultural industrial reuse water and deliver reuse water to users via the west canal which is owned by United States Bureau of Reclamation and operated by QCBID.

Background

We regulate wastewater released from municipalities and industries using the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Wastewater Discharge Permit. This permit regulates wastewater that goes directly into lakes, rivers, Puget Sound, or the ocean (surface water). All wastewater must be treated before it goes into surface water to protect human health and aquatic life.
