Product Environmental Footprint Research and Advisory Group

The State of Washington is pleased to be working with the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and the Oregon Sustainability Board to evaluate the potential benefits and challenges inherent in product-level environmental footprinting.

In 2014, we are undertaking a research project to better understand footprinting standards and programs. The project will take into account the experience and perspective of area businesses, and the program and policy options that would most benefit businesses and consumers in the Pacific Northwest.

Research includes a survey and interviews of businesses. An advisory group of stakeholders from across Washington and Oregon will help direct this research and discuss the results and possible next steps. A report should be available in late 2014.
