Creating a Center for Green Chemistry

Promoting green chemistry in Washington State will encourage sustainable business innovation to reduce or eliminate the use of hazardous substances that can contaminate the environment.

Ecology and other partners developed the Northwest Green Chemistry (NGC) organization to advance green chemistry science and technology through collaboration, research, education, and technical assistance. The center is a cooperative effort between industry, academic, government, non-governmental organizations, and tribal partners.

NGC is:

  • Creating solutions to chemicals of concern in products and processes.
  • Integrating and expanding green chemistry into education and training.
  • Informing and inspiring market-driven solutions and innovations.
  • Making the Pacific Northwest a global leader in green chemistry and engineering.

The creation of NGC is funded by a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and currently a project of Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs (SEE).

Visit the Northwest Green Chemistry website to find tools and resources and see upcoming events.

Northwest Green Chemistry has developed a webinar series targeted to entrepreneurs as well as individual webinars on topics ranging from regulations of renewable chemicals to information on a specific application.
