The actual mercury switch is a small bullet-shaped metal capsule. A mechanic can exchange lighting switches within minutes. A skilled do-it-yourselfer can also exchange switches. Anti-lock brake (ABS) sensors are more difficult to exchange than convenience-light switches.
A ball-bearing switch is a safe and effective replacement for a mercury-containing switch.
Recycle or dispose of mercury switches properly. Call 1-800-RECYCLE for locations.
