CHROME PLATERS PLAN NOV. 15 TELECONFERENCE ON CLEAN AIR ACT

OLYMPIA, WA -- A free closed circuit satellite TV conference will provide information on how recent changes in the federal clean air act affect the chromium electroplating industry. Viewing sites will be set up in Kirkland, Lacey and Spokane. The conference is set for 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wed., Nov. 15.

"The new rules are part of the 1991 clean air act amendments," said Bernard Brady of the Washington Department of Ecology's business assistance staff. "The new regulations affect all hard and decorative electroplating and chromium anodizing, regardless of company size," said Brady. "If you own or operate chromium electroplating or anodizing equipment, you should attend this informative workshop. You will learn about emission limits, pollution prevention techniques, and requirements for work practices, safety, record-keeping, and reporting. You'll be able to call in with questions for the speakers."

The conference will be broadcast from the University of Tennessee. Ecology has arranged three viewing sites for the conference:

Satellite dish owners who wish to download the conference may use the following coordinates: Satellite: SBS Six (74 degrees West); Transponder: Fourteen; Downlink Frequency: 12043 Vertical Polarity.

Ecology also will provide video cassettes of the teleconference free of charge to those who cannot attend the videoconference.

Please call Bernard Brady, (360) 407-6803, to reserve a seat at a viewing site, to order a video tape or for any further information.
