TWO MEETINGS PLANNED TO DISCUSS SPILL CASES
OLYMPIA, WA -- The Washington Resource Damage Assessment (RDA) Committee will hold a special meeting at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 27, in Room 1B-21 at the Department of Ecology headquarters building located at 300 Desmond Drive in Lacey. RDA is an interagency committee that evaluates spills and determines the most appropriate method for assessing natural resource damages.
The entire meeting will be conducted in executive closed door session due to the litigation-sensitive nature of the spill cases being addressed. Although RDA committee meetings are generally open public meetings, executive sessions are only open to RDA committee members and their legal counsel.
A similar state interagency group, the Washington Coastal Protection Fund Steering Committee, will hold a special meeting on Monday, October 30, to discuss proposals received for restoration of resources affected by the 1993 Nosac Forest oil Spill. The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Greenwood Community Center located at 59707 Highway 410 in Greenwood. The meeting will involve several field visits to potential restoration sites. The Washington Coastal Protection Fund Steering Committee is responsible for managing money deposited to the Coastal Protection Fund from state resource damage assessment actions and disbursement of funds on restoration projects and studies.
Contact Paul Heimowitz at (360) 407-6972 for more information regarding both meetings.
