
Ecology Awards $174,824 Grant To Bremerton-Kitsap County Health District
Ecology awarded a $174,824 grant to the Bremerton-Kitsap County Health District for waste management projects. The health district will use the grant to enforce solid waste laws, including investigating permitted facilities and illegal dumping. The grant will also support the health district's work in providing education and technical assistance to businesses that generate small quantities of hazardous waste.

Ecology Grant Of $287,800 Aids Chelan County Waste Programs
Ecology has awarded a $287,800 grant to Chelan County for a comprehensive program of waste management projects. The county will use the grant to relocate the Chelan Recycle Center to the North Chelan Transfer Station, to buy bins and recycling equipment, and to set up used oil collection sites. The grant will also support the county's solid waste reduction and recycling program and household hazardous waste collection and disposal events, including special events for pesticide container and refrigerator/refrigerant collection. Other funded activities include updating the county's hazardous waste management plan, educating the public about hazardous household products, and providing technical assistance to businesses that generate small quantities of hazardous waste.

Ecology Awards Chelan County A Loan For Seedling Project
Ecology awarded Chelan County a State Revolving Fund loan of $30,000 for the Tri-County Forest Seedling Project. The project will provide seedling stock for private, non-industrial landowners for reforestation following wildfires and/or logging in Chelan, Okanogan and Douglas counties. The goal is to create a self-sustaining seed bank to provide affordable tree seedlings to private landowners in the Tri-County area. The water quality benefits will be decreased runoff, lower sediment loading and lower water temperatures in streams and rivers.

Ecology Grants Skagit County $27,938 To Help Manage Aquatic Weeds In Lake Mcmurray
Ecology awarded Skagit County an Aquatic Weeds Management Fund grant of $27,938 to manage aquatic weeds in Lake McMurray. The grant will be used to map aquatic plants; develop an integrated aquatic plant management plan for Lake McMurray; provide public education and participation opportunities for lake residents; and pursue a dedicated funding mechanism and develop a long-term monitoring program for aquatic plant management activities for the lake.
