This is the eighth annual competition, established by the Legislature in 1989 as part of the Waste Not Washington Act.
Last year two central Washington schools won the best program awards---Granger Junior High School and Cashmere Middle School. Deadline for applications is Friday, March 21, 1997. An awards ceremony for the winning schools will be held in the State Capitol rotunda in May.
