Report on Water Quality of Selected lakes in Washington State Completed

The Water Quality Assessments of Selected Lakes with Washington State, 1994 report is complete. This report summarizes data collection for 73 lakes by Ecology staff and volunteers for Ecology's statewide ambient lake monitoring program in 1994. Ecology's lake water quality assessment program identifies lakes that are exhibiting water quality problems, assesses significant publicly-owned lakes and promotes public awareness of lake ecology and protection. Ecology Awards $62,018 Grant for Port Angeles Waste Reduction and Recycling

The Department of Ecology has awarded a $62,018 grant to the city of Port Angeles for a county-wide program of recycling outreach projects. The city will use the grant to continue successful education projects that educate Clallam County residents about waste prevention and recycling, and the opportunities available in their area. The education campaign features the "Turning It Around" theme developed by the county, and includes school programs, daily radio spots, exhibits and print materials.

Ecology Grants $19,709 for Tukwila Waste Reduction and Recycling

The Department of Ecology has awarded a $19,709 grant to the city of Tukwila for a coordinated program of waste reduction and recycling activities. The city will use the grant to sponsor the "Tukwila Community Yard Sale," a community-wide waste prevention event. The city will survey participants to evaluate the event's effectiveness in reaching waste reduction and recycling goals. The grant will also support technical assistance in recycling, waste reduction and recycled product purchasing to Tukwila businesses.

Ecology Awards Monroe $16,799 Grant for Four-City Yard Waste Project

The Department of Ecology has awarded a $16,799 to the city of Monroe for a yard waste collection and recycling project for the communities of Snohomish, Monroe, Lake Stevens and Sultan. Monroe will use the grant to buy large bins for the curbside yard debris collection and multi-family recycling programs in the communities. Monroe will track the materials collected and evaluate the effectiveness of the program.
