SPOKANE-The air quality permit for a portable rock crusher proposed by the DeAtley Crushing Company will be the subject of a public hearing on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1998 at 7 p.m. at Clarkston High School.
The DeAtley Company applied for a permit to operate a portable crusher to process 100,000 tons of mineral aggregate. The proposed site for the rock crusher in the Dry Gulch area along Evans Road.
The operation would last six weeks and would include mining, screening, crushing and stockpiling the rock. Then the rock would be trucked out.
The Department of Ecology has the authority to place conditions on the facility's air quality permit to minimize harm to the environment.
Ecology will briefly discuss the project proposal and define the environmental issues before taking testimony Wednesday night.
The public may present oral or written comments at the hearing. Written comments must be received by Dec. 23, 1998 at the following address:
