
The Washington Department of Ecology will conduct a public meeting in Port Angeles on Thursday, Oct. 8, to discuss the upcoming In Situ Burning Notification and Air Monitoring Drill. The U.S. Coast Guard and other Northwest spill response organizations will participate.
The meeting will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Clallam County Board of Commissioners meeting room located in the Clallam County Courthouse at 223 E. Fourth St.
The spill readiness drill will occur in Port Angeles on Oct. 13 and 14. No oil will be discharged or ignited. The drill is designed to test the region's ability to safely use controlled in situ or "in place" burning as a response tool.
