Dangerous waste workshops planned

OLYMPIA - The Washington Department of Ecology (Ecology) is conducting two full-day workshops in January to help Southwest Washington businesses manage their dangerous waste.

The workshops will provide information about appropriate handling, storage and disposal of dangerous wastes. Dangerous wastes include items such as paints, solvents or other substances that pose hazards to human health and the environment.

Each workshop will cover a variety of topics, and will include a demonstration of how to develop and electronically submit annual dangerous waste reports.

The workshops will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. as follows:

January 11

Tacoma Sheraton Tacoma Hotel Ballroom
1320 Broadway Plaza, Tacoma

January 13

Vancouver
Red Lion Hotel at the Quay Centennial Center
100 Columbia St., Vancouver

The workshops also will cover how to:

Small-quantity generators will be the focus of the morning session.

Ecology is offering the workshop for $40. A training manual, lunch and a certificate of participation will be provided. If space is still available on the day of the workshop, registration at the door will be $45.
