Ecology reaches settlement with Parkway developer

OLYMPIA - The Department of Ecology (Ecology) has reached a settlement with Vancouver developer J. Clifford Cook, reducing a $23,000 penalty to $15,000.

Cook's firm, Lacamas Creek Enterprises, was fined last February for numerous water quality violations at the Parkway housing development. The Parkway is located on N.E. 131st Ave., southeast of the Interstate 205-State Route 500 intersection.

Ecology issued the fine after several attempts to provide technical assistance to the developer.

Previously, Vancouver had issued three stop-work orders at the site and issued approximately $12,000 in penalties for similar violations of city construction codes and ordinances. The Vancouver penalties have not yet been paid.
