OLYMPIA - A penalty described in the recent Department of Ecology penalty summary was in error.
Erdmann Trucking Inc. of Port Angeles did not receive a $4,000 penalty for failing to obtain an industrial stormwater permit. The penalty was cancelled after the owner explained that the business had closed.
Unfortunately, the database from which the penalty summary was derived had not been updated yet, so the information about Erdmann Trucking in the Feb. 12 news release was inaccurate.
If the business resumes, it will still be required to obtain coverage under the permit. The company can apply for a reduced permit rate by citing hardship.
