Learn about Entiat watershed stream flows at open house

YAKIMA - Residents of the Entiat Valley can learn about a proposal to set stream-flow levels that protect fish in the Entiat and Mad rivers during an open house slated from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8, at the Entiat Grange Hall, 14108 Kinzel St., in Entiat.

Local watershed planners have developed recommendations to set stream flows as part of the recently adopted Entiat WRIA Management Plan. State law calls for regulations to be adopted that identify the amount of water that needs to be kept in each stream to protect fish rearing and spawning.

As partners in the watershed planning process, state Department of Ecology staff will be joined at the open house by the local watershed planners to provide information on the stream-flow adoption process.

For more information about the workshop, contact Judy Beitel at (360) 407-6878 or by e-mail at jbei461@ecy.wa.gov. For more information on the proposed rule, contact Lynne Geller at (360) 407-6450 or by e-mail at lgel461@ecy.wa.gov.
