OLYMPIA - Funding for restoration projects in North Puget Sound and along the Strait of Juan de Fuca will be finalized in a special meeting on Wednesday at the Department of Ecology.
The meeting of the Washington Coastal Protection Fund Steering Committee is set for 1:30 p.m. in Room 3F-08 at Ecology's headquarters building in Lacey at 300 Desmond Drive.
The committee disburses money received from oil-spill and natural-resource damage assessments and includes representatives from the state departments of Ecology, Fish and Wildlife, and Natural Resources as well as the Parks and Recreation Commission. The committee will make final decisions on proposals submitted for funding from the North Puget Sound/Strait of Juan de Fuca sub-account.
Proposed projects range from acquiring tidelands, to improving fish passage, to improving access and safety at state parks, to creosote removal.
