Correction: Spills rules public hearing dates

OLYMPIA - In a June 8 press release, the Department of Ecology (Ecology) announced the agency is seeking public comment on a set of three proposed rules designed to prevent oil spills into Washington waters and to improve response readiness.

The press release contained an error regarding the date of the public hearings set for Port Angeles. The hearings will be held on Saturday, July 15.

Ecology will hold a total of five meetings to share information and collect public comments on the following dates and locations:

July 11 in Pasco - 1 p.m. for oil transfer rule and 6 p.m. for oil spill contingency plan rule. Both hearings will be held at Columbia Basin College, Gjerde Center, 2600 N. 20th Ave.
July 13 in Vancouver, Wash. - 1 p.m. for oil transfer rule and 6 p.m. for oil spill contingency plan rule. Both hearings will be held at Washington State University Vancouver Campus, Student Services Building, Room 129-130, 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave.
July 15 in Port Angeles - 1 p.m. for oil transfer rule and 4 p.m. for oil spill contingency plan rule. Both hearings will be held at City Council Chambers, Main Chamber Room, 321 E. Fifth St.
July 18 in Bellingham - 1 p.m. for oil transfer rule and 6 p.m. for oil spill contingency plan rule. Both hearings will be held at Bellingham Hampton Inn, Fox Hall, 3985 Bennett Drive.
July 19 in SeaTac - 1 p.m. for oil transfer rule and 6 p.m. for oil spill contingency plan rule. Both hearings will be held in Des Moines at Highline Community College, Building 7, 2400 S. 240th.

The public comment period for all three draft rules is open until July 26.
