Gov. Chris Gregoire created the Climate Advisory Team in her Feb. 7 Executive Order on Climate Change. The team is headed by Jay Manning, Washington Department of Ecology director, and Juli Wilkerson, director of the Washington Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development.
Team members represent some of Washington’s most influential businesses, environmental and natural resources interests, local and state governments, and power producers. As directed by Gov. Gregoire and the Legislature, team members are working to find ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, grow the clean energy economy, and cut spending on fuel imports. They are assisted by Technical Working Groups that focus on specific sectors, such as transportation.
Thursday’s meeting is set from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Washington State University – Tri-Cities in Richland; go to Room 120 of the Consolidated Information Center, 2710 University Drive. This is the fifth meeting of the Climate Advisory Team; the public is invited to attend. Agenda items include:
