Department of Ecology News Release - January 5, 2009
09-001
SPOKANE - The Spokane office of the Washington Department of Ecology (Ecology) is closed today through Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, to allow Washington Conservation Corps (WCC) crews to shovel heavy snow from the roof. The roof was nearing its maximum weight capacity after the Monday morning storm. Staff members were asked to leave at noon.
Business is expected to resume on Wednesday morning, Jan. 7. In the meantime, if citizens have business with Ecology, please try the individual staff member’s desk for instructions, and please be patient as we ensure the safety of our employees. To contact Ecology employees, see the Ecology Internet homepage, and click on “Contact Us” at the top right corner of the page. Here’s a direct link: http://www.ecy.wa.gov/feedback.html
The WCC is an Ecology youth program that helps during natural disasters and emergencies. Corps members already have helped approximately 100 Spokane County residents -- shoveling to help people get medical care and to help care workers and food delivery services gain access to homes of the elderly and people with disabilities.
