Department of Ecology News Release - March 15, 2014, 12 p.m.
(OLYMPIA) – The state Department of Ecology and US Coast Guard are responding to an oil spill near the Shell Refinery in Anacortes.
The refinery reported the spill at 9:30 a.m. and estimate 8,000 gallons of crude oil spilled into a contained site in their waste-water treatment center during a transfer process.
A Coast Guard overflight confirms the spill is contained to the refinery and no spill to water has occurred.
More information about the spill will be provided as soon as it becomes available.
