Updated White Salmon shoreline plan open for public review

WHITE SALMON – An update on how the Columbia River shoreline will be managed within the city of White Salmon will replace standards adopted in 1984 under Klickitat County’s shoreline master plan.

Comments will be accepted until Dec. 2 on the program now under review by the Washington Department of Ecology.

Before approving the plan, Ecology will take public comments into consideration and may identify modifications to meet the state’s Shoreline Management Act. The city adopted and submitted its shoreline plan to Ecology last March.

The proposed shoreline program will guide construction and development along the shoreline within White Salmon jurisdiction and align it with new state rules and current shoreline conditions.

Comments and questions should be addressed to Lennard Jordan, Department of Ecology, Shorelands and Environmental Assistance Program, 1250 W Alder St, Union Gap, WA 98903, or by email to For information, call 509-457-7125.
