Toxic Air Pollutants Regulatory and Technical Information

There are rules requiring new sources of air pollution to obtain permits. In Chapter 173-400 WAC are sections about NSR for criteria pollutants. Chapter 173-460 WAC is about toxic air pollutants.

Here is a consolidated list of the chemicals and ASILs (Ambient Source Impact Levels) in all four tables in WAC 173-460-150 and -160.

Some ASILs are based on US EPA IRIS (Integrated Risk Information System) data in existence when the ASILs were proposed. Here is a table of substances for which IRIS more recently contained data from TLVs.

Some ASILs are based on ACGIH (American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists) TLV (Threshold Limit Value) data in existence when the ASILs were proposed. Here is a table of substances for which the ACGIH booklet recently contained data from TLVs.

In the future some ASILs may be based on OEHHA (Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment) or on ATSDR (Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry) data.
