Air Quality Program Funding Opportunities

Wood Smoke Reduction Fund

Wood smoke is one of the main sources of air pollution in Washington. Wood stoves, fireplaces, and other wood burning devices put out hundreds of times more air pollution than other sources of heat such as natural gas or electricity. The Washington Department of Ecology (Ecology) provides grant money to local clean air agencies for projects that will protect people from breathing harmful smoke.

Wood Smoke Reduction Grants are funded by legislative request in the State Building Construction Account.

Wood Smoke Reduction Grants

Wood Smoke Reduction Grants to local clean air agencies help people replace old wood stoves and other high-polluting heating devices with cleaner, more efficient heating equipment.
