Shelton Laundry groundwater monitoring
We are monitoring groundwater at the Shelton Laundry in Mason County, where legacy chemicals from a dry cleaning operation are still found in the shallow aquifer. We measure volatile organic compounds from monitoring wells to help determine what measures need to be taken to improve water quality and when groundwater standards are met.

Sampling for legacy dry-cleaning chemicals
We collect groundwater samples every 18 months from select wells to monitor concentrations of tetrachloroethene (PCE) that continue to exceed the state Model Toxics Control Act cleanup level. The groundwater data will be used to help determine if this site can be removed from the Confirmed and Suspected Contaminated Sites list.
