Studies are reviewed in this USEPA publication to provide a comprehensive volume on state-of-the-art formulations used in surface water quality modeling along with accepted values for rate constants and coefficients. Topics covered include: dispersion, heat budgets, dissolvedc oxygen saturation, reaeration, CBOD decay, NDOD decay, sediment oxygen demand, photosynthesis, pH and alkalinity, nutrients, algae, zooplankton, and coliform bacteria. Factors affecting the specific phenomena and methods of measurement are discussed in addition to data on rate constants.
To facilitate downloading and viewing of this 455 page publication, it has been broken up into ten PDF files that are each approximately 2 megabytes in size. The application called Adobe Acrobat Reader, freely downloadable from the Adobe Website (http://www.adobe.com/), is required to view these and other PDF files. The following is a list of sections and pages contained in each PDF file. Please note that the first file, entitled "Sect1-1.pdf," includes the table of contents, other front matter items, as well as the first 35 pages of the document. Using the table of contents from this file, viewers can navigate through the rest of the files (note: the PDF file name conveys which section each file begins with).
